Preparing for Your First Surf Trip

Embarking on your first surf trip is an exciting moment.

We're here to guide you every step of the way, ensuring you’re ready to hit the waves with confidence.

We put together a quick guide to help you prepare for your first surf adventure:

Gear Up Right:

  • Surfboard: The great dilemma—how many surfboards should you take? While it’s tempting to bring multiple boards for different conditions, for most people, on most surf trips, two to four boards are plenty. Be mindful of airline regulations, as some may charge extra for more than two boards in a bag.

  • Surfboard Bag: our bag is the only thing protecting your boards from rough handling at the airport, so choose one with ample padding. Use your wetsuit, rash guard, or towel for extra protection inside the bag. Ensure your boards fit snugly but not too tight.

  • Wetsuit or Rash Guard: Depending on the water temperature, a wetsuit might be necessary to keep you warm. Rash guards are great for sun protection, preventing rashes, and adding a bit of warmth during breezy conditions. Unlike regular shirts, rash guards dry quickly and won’t become a soggy mess after your session.

  • Leash and Wax: These essentials can make or break your surf session. Bring backups for both to ensure you’re always ready to hit the waves.

  • Surfboard Fins: At least two sets. Bring spares because, as with many things, you’ll want backups in case something happens.

Pack Smart

  • Sun Protection: Sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses are must-haves. The sun’s rays are especially intense on the water, so protect yourself.

  • Hydration and Snacks: Surfing is physically demanding. Stay hydrated and pack energy-boosting snacks to keep you going.

  • Extras: Bring a towel, a change of clothes, and a waterproof bag for your valuables.

By following this guide, you’ll be well-prepared for your first surf trip. Stay tuned for more tips and tricks to make your surf adventures unforgettable! 🌊✨
